How Products Get Tested
Every piece of hardware reviewed on this site spent at least 30 nights on my actual bed before anything was written. I run a clip-on thermometer on the nightstand and log bedroom temperature at 11pm, 2am, and 6am during the test window. I keep the power bills. Those two data points, the thermometer and the bill, are what determine whether a product worked. If the temperature at 2am did not drop, the product did not work, regardless of what the box said.
If something failed during the test, that failure is in the review. The sheet that pilled by week three is in the review. The fan controller that froze on firmware 2.1 is in the review. The mattress topper that worked great for ten nights and went flat by week four is in the review.
Affiliate Relationships
Some links on this site are affiliate links. Click one, buy the thing, I get a small cut, at no extra cost to you. The commission does not shape which products end up reviewed here. If a product turns out to be junk, the review says it is junk, paid placement or not.
What This Site Is Not
This is not a sleep science publication. Brian Caldwell is an IT contractor who tested hardware in a Tucson house, not a sleep researcher or certified sleep professional. If you are dealing with a diagnosed sleep disorder, night sweats with a hormonal cause, or anything that calls for a doctor, this site is not the right resource for that. The reviews here are about bedroom hardware, not medical advice.
